Dooney & Bourke is another American Brand Handbag Company that has joined the ranks of Coach by being, "Knocked Off" as they say in the business. For many years counterfeiting was something set aside for the big names and the foreign handbag market such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior and Gucci. Working on an oil rig is rarely considered a career. Nevertheless, the prospects of workers who successfully gain oil rig employment are very bright for the coming decade. Demand for oil remains high from first world nations and the gigantic economies formerly third world nations like China and India are also insatiably guzzling oil as they rapidly move to join the ranks of first world nations. Until new oil rigs, pipelines, refineries and depots are built, supply remains tighter than the world is used to for the past decade.

Although prospects for oil rig employment are bright, it does not mean that you can just show up at the doorstep of Shell's HR office and expect them to give you a job. It is not as easy as some oil rig employment and shipping sites want you to believe. 1. Portable Reflectors. A photographer can't have too many light modifiers. Reflectors come in so many sizes and configurations. Snoop around to see what they have and choose a model they don't have. Many of these fold up into tiny cases. Or think of buying a reflector holder for one they already own. (-0)

2. Chips and more chips. Not the potato kind - the memory card kind. Find out what format their cameras take - Compact Flash, Smart Media, whatever, and buy a couple more. They are very inexpensive to buy in large capacities. Pop out one from their camera or chip carrier and note the maker and model, and try to buy the same or larger memory capacity. (-0)

3. Portable Hard Drive / Image Tank. These battery-operated devices are pocket-sized and will copy the pictures from a camera chip and save a duplicate on the hard drive. Some of them also have a nice preview screen and TV output so you can enjoy the photos as a slide show. They act as a hard drive when plugged into a laptop. They are perfect for on-location shots or long vacations where you don't have your computer with you. (0-0)

4. Another Lens! If your photographer has a Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera, then pick their brain about lenses they have and want. This is one area where photographers are very picky, so may want to go as far as having them describe the specific make and model. 5. Filters for lenses. There are a variety of filters or modifiers that can be put on lenses. You'll want to know what size lens (measured in millimeters), and what they have or want. You may want to consider going to a good book store and picking up one copy of several different magazines with a note attached that you'll buy a subscription to their favorite one. 10. Destination Vacation. OK, this one may cost you some time and money, but as long as you're patient and let your photographer stop and shoot the flowers, you'll both have a great time and they will really appreciate the opportunity to travel and shoot. ($cheap-$not cheap)

29. Proof Books or albums. If they print lots of proofs, don't hide them away in a box. Get them several albums so they can display them and use them to show others. 10 Ridiculously Easy Christmas Gift Basket Ideas

Ten Tips to Keep You Safe on the Hills and Mountains

Walking in the Mountains has become one of today's most popular outdoor pursuits. Gone is the earlier image of a pastime for strangely dressed eccentric old people dressed in woolly hats, hobnail boots, corduroy trousers and tweed jackets. Modern outdoor clothing is actually a multi million pound business that often has more to do with a fashion statement then practical use.

Cutting through the preverbal crap and pushing fashion statements to one side, lets take an actual look at what is needed for an enjoyable day on the hills. The following Ten Items are essential, not just for comfort but for actual survival and safety.

Hiking Backpack

(1) Warm clothing consisting of:- Base layer:- Under shirt or T-shirt, under clothes and Socks. (Thin liner socks and thicker walking socks) Mid layer:- Fleece or woollen top. Trousers or shorts in the summer (Do not wear jeans, they hold water and will freeze on you in Winter. Cotton also holds moisture so avoid. Man made fabrics such as polyester do not hold moisture and dry much quicker.) Outer Layer:- Waterproof Jacket (Breathable is best for comfort.) Waterproof trousers, Hat, Gloves. Sun hat in the summer.

(2) Footwear:- 2 Season boots for Summer, they are light weight, waterproof, slightly flexible and have good ankle support. 3 to 4 Season boots for Winter, they are tough, rigid soles that can take crampons, waterproof with strong ankle support. Avoid footwear without ankle support. Trainers in winter or on wet grass can be lethal.

(3) Rucksack:- 25 to 35 litre rucksack is ideal as a day sack. Choose one that has a breathable back support, hip band and adjustable shoulder straps. The more money you pay the more features the pack will have. For example, wand pockets, camel pack compartment for water container and external waterproof cover. Dont carry unnecessary stuff in the bag, otherwise you may start to regret bringing along the unwanted weight in your bag

(4) Map and Compass:- In the UK, Explorer maps are ideal, they give excellent detail and are clear to follow. Try to pick a detailed map of about two and a half inches to the mile, these show fences and walls that can help as guide lines to follow. Unless the map is laminated, keep it in a waterproof case. Maps will fall apart when wet. There are various compasses on the market, however try to get one that has the needle suspended in fluid, such as a Silva Compass. The essential factor is learn how to use a Compass and read a map before venturing onto the hills. Dont rely on just a GPS device. Always take a map and compass.

(5) Safety equipment:- Whistle, Torch with spare battery, (LED last longer) First aid kit, Bivvy bag and a spare set of laces. (These can be used either for your boots or to tie a broken strap) Rope if you are tackling any rock climbs or crossing streams and rivers. Ice axe in Winter.

(6) Enough food and drink for the day:- Water or fruit drinks(hot or cold) Avoid Tea or Coffee they help to dehydrate you. DO NOT TAKE ALCOHOL. Alcohol not only dehydrates you it will help to bring on the effects of hypothermia very quickly. Easily digestible foods will get energy into your system much quicker. Bananas and dried fruit are a better source of blood sugar then chocolate.

(7) Plan your Route:- Plan your walk and have an alternative route to use if the weather is poor. Don't take on more then you can cope with. Start with simple walks and build up your skills over a period of time. Build in escape routes into your walk should conditions deteriorate. Tell someone where you are going and what time you expect to return. Leave a note in the glove compartment of your car. (If the car is still in the car park after several days and comes to the attention of the emergency services then at least a route note in the car will give them something to work with.)

(8) Check the weather:- Don't leave it to chance. Always check the weather outlook a few days before you go. Avoid extreme weather conditions such as high winds and lightning. At the first sound of thunder, GET DOWN. You can survive getting wet, but it is unlikely that you will survive a lightning strike. If you are caught out crouch down on your mat or rucksack at the lowest point you can find, do not hold on to anything metal and wait for the storm to pass.

While mountain climbing can be one of the most exciting and challenging sports, there are also many dangers involved in mountain climbing which one should consider. To decrease the odds of falling victim to a damaging or fatal injury on the mountain, make sure that you are aware of all of the hazards and take appropriate safety precautions. In this article we will look at some of the common dangers that one faces when climbing.

The most obvious hazard that springs to mind when thinking about mountain climbing is the danger of falling. Rough surfaces of exposed rock make it easy to break one's bones or even die instantly from comparatively short falls. A mountain climber must continually be aware of the environment around him and make sure that his / her estimates of the strength and stability / firmness of the rock are correct. Rocks can be rotten and give way, crumbling when weight is applied to them. Climbers must be sure to bring proper support, and to gauge the level of oxygen that they bring with them to remain safe.

There are many benefits for eating cranberries. They provide antioxidants and can even help ward off bladder infections. Buying dried cranberries in the grocery store isn't all that expensive but the major problem with buying dried cranberries is that there is sugar added. Look in your local grocery store and you will almost always find every single brand of dried cranberries labeled as "sweetened dried cranberries". Seldom will you see "unsweetened dried cranberries sold in a regular grocery store, you will most likely have to head out to a specialty health food store to get them unsweetened.

You can make your own cranberries at home by either dehydrating them or using your oven. By making your own dried cranberries at home, you are in control as to the amount of sugar you add to them or if you do not wish to add sugar at all.

To make your own dried cranberries you will need:

- a bag of fresh cranberries (fresh is best but frozen can be used)
- a large saucepan
- Water
- Sugar or a sugar substitute (optional)
- a food strainer
- a food dehydrator or an oven

The first step in preparing your cranberries to be dried is to wash them thoroughly place the berries into an empty saucepan. If you choose to sweeten your berries then do so now with your choice of granulated sugar, a sugar substitute like Splenda or my personal favorite is Stevia; which is made from the Stevia Plant found in nature and not a chemically engineered sugar. You will first dissolve your sugar choice in a cup of water. The amount of sugar will depend on how sweet you prefer your berries to be and the type of sweetener used. Pour the sugar mixture over your berries that are in the saucepan.

Next you will boil the cranberries in water. If you sweetened your cranberries, there should be some of the sugar water mixture in the pan still but you may need to add more water to the pan if the water is not covering the cranberries. If you did not choose to sweeten your berries, then you will also need to add water to the pan so that the water is covering the berries. Set the saucepan on high enough heat to boil the water. The reason why you need to boil the berries is to blanch them which causes the cranberries to burst as the outer skin will split. This step is important because if the cranberries do not split they will not dry properly. Keep the cranberries in the boiling water until you can easily identify that the skin on all of them have split. Drain all the water out using a strainer and lay out some paper towels over a baking sheet. You can let the berries sit in the strainer a few minutes to cool off and then place them on top of the paper towel and pat them try.

If using a food dehydrator then set your dehydrator on 120 degrees and begin layering the cranberries spread out on a single layer. The cranberries will take approximately 12-24 hours to dry in a food dehydrator. Be sure to stir the berries every 2 hours to help them dry evenly. You know they are down when they are chewy yet leather in texture.

If using an oven, preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Take a cookie sheet and place 2-3 layers of paper towels directly on the cookie sheet followed by the very top layer to be parchment paper. Next take your berries and lay them over the parchment paper so that they form a single layer. Once the oven has preheated a few minutes, lower the heat to 150 degrees Fahrenheit and then place your cookie sheet into the oven on the middle rack. It will take approximately 8 hours to dry them. Test them after 8 hours, they should have a leathery texture and be chewy.

As we start the new camping season its always good to review some tips on keeping dry. Nothing makes a campout more unbearable than getting your gear all soggy! Although most people camp during the summer months when it's warm and dry there are times during the season when you will get rain. But, fear not! Here are some tips to staying dry that I have learned from my 25+ years camping with the Boy Scouts.

TIP #1

Hiking Backpack

o Did you use seam sealer on your tent? Remember to seal all tent seams on an annual basis. Purchase some "fresh" sealer from a sporting goods or camping store. During your first outing in the spring, re-seal all your seams with a liberal amount of sealer.

TIP #2

o Are you putting a ground sheet or cloth under your tent when you camp? It's not just enough to put the ground sheet under the tent, you've got to tuck the edges under the tent so when it rains the water will not collect on the ground sheet and run under the tent. :-(

So, if your rain fly is installed correctly, the seam sealer holding and the ground sheet properly tucked under the tent you should be go to go! - at least from moisture getting into your tent.

TIP #3

o When inside the tent during a rainstorm, make sure your gear, sleeping bags, mattress, etc. are not touching the tent walls. Why? Well, the tent walls and rain fly are designed to deflect the water droplets off the tent and onto the ground. If you upset this design by putting your pack, sleeping bag or other gear against the wall, water will pool and soak through the tent wall!

I learned this the hard way! I was in a small tent and didn't realize that my sleeping bag was resting against the tent wall. During the night it rained and I slept through it. In the morning I had a wet spot at the foot of my sleeping bag and a puddle on the floor of my tent. :-(

o When you enter the tent after being out in the rain, take off your wet clothes and put them in a corner or at the front of your tent with your wet shoes. In a pinch, you can take a large, green garbage bag; cut three holes in it for your head and arms and it will keep you dry too! I know, my son does it all the time. He's so fashionable! :-)

Take handling of food, for example. Proper handling of picnic food is important, especially if you're preparing them before hand and intend to pack them later. Picnic foods, when spoiled, not sanitized, or handled safely, can be a possible breeding ground for bacteria, which may cause food-borne diseases.

Many picnic foods require physical handling, especially when preparing them. For example are traditional food such as salads and sandwiches. Though cooking in advance is good, convenient, and saves you time, do not prepare your picnic food more than the day before. If you intend to do so, make sure it's frozen. Just thaw it properly on picnic day.

Always wash your hands and make sure they're clean when handling food and utensils. Make sure the containers and utensils you use are also clean. Even the surface on which you prepare your food should be clean to avoid food contamination. Bacteria and viruses can easily be transferred from one place to another. This is a general rule to keep in mind either you prepare your food in advance or on the picnic site itself.

Certain food should be kept cold as they are more at risk of bacteria growth even in room temperature. For example, cut melons. Food with mayonnaise such as salads dressings or sandwich fillings should be kept cold too. If you're grilling on the picnic itself, make sure your meats are fresh when frozen.

When packing, make sure your containers are clean too. Also, if you need to bring cold or hot food, store them in special containers. Cold food should be kept at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit while hot foods require 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Store cold foods in tight water proof containers and pack them inside insulated coolers with lots of ice. Pack the cold foods in between the ice and not just above them. Also, you have to avoid putting your coolers inside your car's trunk to preserve your ice longer. At the picnic site, keep them closed and put them under shade too.

Last year, I attended a seminar where the attendees were asked to define their personal mission or purpose in one sentence. Out of about a group of about three hundred people, fewer than a dozen were able to articulate a mission statement.

It's not that living with purpose is a low priority for most of us. Research by Richard J. Leider and David Shapiro, authors of Repacking Your Bags, found that the number one deadly fear of most people is "having lived a meaningless life."

Why, then, does writing a mission statement seem like such a daunting task?

I believe the main reason lies in the lack of practical resources. Though you can avail yourself of prolific advice about writing mission statements from management experts and from books, the Internet, and so forth--most of this information is complex and confusing. Also, most of these resources target corporations and organizations, providing little practical advice for an individual who wants to craft a personal mission statement.

When you were a child you probably learned how to start a fire by focusing sunlight through a magnifying glass. Sunlight alone could not start the fire; it had to be focused through the magnifying glass. This reflects a basic principle of solar energy--though a large amount of sunlight falls on the earth, the light is diffused. For the sun to be utilized for heating, solar energy units must be designed to collect and concentrate the light.

The same principle applies to purpose. It must be focused to produce results. With no focus, there is no mechanism for establishing direction or goals. As Diana Scharf Hunt said, "Goals are dreams with deadlines."

Committing yourself to defining your purpose is the perhaps the most important task you could ever engage in. "Discovering your purpose will put your life into crystal-clear perspective," says Mark Victor Hansen in an Internet article "Conceptualize your Purpose." "You will see another world, one in which you are a necessary and intricate spoke in the wheel."

Your Personal Mission Statement

What is a mission statement? Since the focus of this article is on personal life purpose, as opposed to a corporate or organizational purpose, I'm going to simplify the process with the aim of making it easy for individuals who desire to articulate their purpose. Let's use the following definitions:

Mission Statement: Concise statement of your life purpose.
Vision Statement: Concise statement of the unique and distinctive ways that you will accomplish your purpose.

The first place to start is your mission statement. I will use the terms "mission" and "purpose" interchangeably. Choose the term you like best.

Think of your mission statement as a general statement encompassing your reason for existence--in other words, a broad statement of what you hope to accomplish. It does not include the distinctive ways that you intend to accomplish your purpose; that will be articulated in your vision statement.

Your mission statement will help you stay on course. In First Things First, Stephen Covey emphasizes the motivation and energy that result from an effective mission statement. "What we're talking about here is not simply writing a statement of belief. We're talking about accessing and creating an open connection with the deep energy that comes from a well-defined, thoroughly integrated sense of purpose and meaning in life."

Before you develop your mission statement, it is important to understand what a mission statement is not. It is not a to-do list. Nor is it a statement of strategies or methods. It is not a job description. Jobs and roles change through life's different seasons; purpose embodies a broad vision that encompasses all your roles.

You may not see a clear picture right now, and that's fine. Relax. Don't sweat it. Enjoy the process.

In other words, your mission statement is not written in stone. You can and should revisit it periodically. Most likely you will revise and fine-tune it time and again. Don't be concerned about whether it is precisely accurate. Pray and ask God to lead you in this endeavour.

Take time out from your busy schedule to prayerfully reflect on your personal mission, as you understand it at this point on your journey. Look at the big picture, and ask yourself questions like, Who am I? Why am I here? What are my desires and dreams? What is my mission, or purpose?

Defining your purpose should be a stimulating and motivating exercise. It should stir enthusiasm and excitement.

Many people feel that purpose must relate to a vision of achieving something of great magnitude or something that affects a nation or even the entire world. But purpose does not necessarily involve grandiose ideas.

I like what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "Everyone has the power for greatness--not for fame but greatness, because greatness is determined by service."

Defining your passions within a larger context will help you articulate your purpose.

Successful people not only have a clear vision of what they want to do, but why. The why is as important as the what, for it is the why that fuels vision and keeps you motivated when you face setbacks.

Understanding why you want to do something will help you define your purpose. For example, perhaps you believe you are called to leadership in the business arena. Ask yourself, Why do I want to do this?

Think about how you can use your gifts to seek others. Always seek to understand the big picture - the purpose for your passions and talents.

Now get out some paper or your Palm Pilate or laptop or whatever communications gadget you like best, and begin drafting your mission statement. I'll say it again--do not obsess about getting it perfect. I wrote and rewrote my mission statement many times. And who knows, I may refine it again in the future.

Keep revising it until you can define it in one clear, concise sentence.

Here is my mission statement: "To inspire and equip women to reach their divine potential."

Notice that this statement does not include the specifics of how I will accomplish my mission. It says nothing about the unique and distinctive strategies I will employ for achieving my purpose.

Your Vision Statement

Now that you have defined your mission statement in one sentence, you are ready to take the next step and craft your vision statement. The vision statement adds the all-important how. It defines the distinctive and specific ways that you will accomplish your mission.

As George Barna says in The Power of Vision, "While the mission statement is philosophic in nature, the vision statement is strategic in nature." While mission relates to general approaches, "vision relates to specific actions."

Your vision statement propels your mission to specific strategies. Specifying the primary activities you will pursue to accomplish your purpose, it reflects your unique passions, talents, and skills.

You should be able to define your vision statement in one concise paragraph. The first sentence of this paragraph is your mission statement. The next one or two sentences specify how you will accomplish your mission.

Your vision statement will evolve over time, reflecting your character development and the acquisition of more skills and experience.

At one time, my vision statement read as follows: "To inspire and equip women to reach their divine potential. This will be accomplished by writing articles and books and by speaking at conferences and seminars."

As time went on, I revised my vision statement to the following: "To inspire and equip women to reach their divine potential. This will be accomplished by writing articles, columns, books, and e-books; by publishing an online women's magazine; and by speaking at conferences and seminars."

Notice that the first sentence (my mission statement) did not change. The next sentence, which encompasses how I will achieve my mission, continues evolving.

Thousands of other women may have the same mission statement as mine but have different vision statements reflecting their unique gifts and callings.

For example, one woman might reach the same mission as mine through counselling. Her vision statement might read something like this: "To inspire and equip women to reach their divine potential. This will be accomplished through personal counselling."

Another woman might have a vision statement like this: "To inspire and equip women to reach their divine potential. This will be accomplished by coaching women in leadership and business management skills."

Can you see how the vision statement encompasses uniqueness and specificity? It is the vision statement--not the mission statement--that reflects your unique gifts and strategies.

Your vision statement serves as a compass to keep things going in the right direction. It helps you measure your progress, set goals, establish priorities, and know when to use one of the most important words in your vocabulary: No.

One of my favourite movies is Apollo 13. I never fail to be inspired by the courage and resourcefulness of the astronauts amid unimaginable pressure and seemingly impossible odds. On top of a litany of other crippling technical problems, the astronauts were faced with the reality that their oxygen could run out, they could be poisoned by carbon dioxide accumulations, or they could freeze to death. Even if they managed to return to the earth's atmosphere, they had to enter at precisely the right angle.

If you've seen the movie, you'll recall there were many decisions and actions that contributed to their successful landing. One of those actions was ensuring they kept the earth in sight at all times, for they had lost their navigational equipment.

In the same way, your vision statement will keep you moving in the right direction. It will help you stay focused on the big picture, even when facing emotional upheaval, discouragement, obstacles, and all the other distractions that life throws at you.

Mission and vision statements provide focus to your purpose. As Henry David Thoreau said, "In the long run men only hit what they aim for."

Bodyweight training CAN be effective. It CAN be a substitute for weights, if necessary. Training using your own body weight as a source of resistance is a time tested technique to get results fast.

Here are the ten best bodyweight training exercises that give you great workouts and great results - without the gym.

1. Supine Pull-Ups (works major muscles in back, shoulders, and biceps) Use two chairs and a pole - a heavy broom handle works well. WARNING: make sure the chairs are stable and that the broom handle is strong enough to take your weight. You could be SEVERELY injured if the pole were to break or the chairs to slip. Lie on your back underneath a low bar. Grab the bar with a wide overhand grip. Pull up. Lower and repeat for 6-8 reps.

2. Supine Biceps Pull-Ups (biceps, some back) Use the same chairs-and-pole arrangement from #1. Sit underneath a low bar. Grab the bar with a reverse grip (palms facing you), hands about shoulder-width apart. Keeping your body upright, pull up until your chin just clears the bar. Focus on the tension in your biceps, trying to relax the rest of your body. 6-8 reps.

3. Push-Ups (chest, triceps, shoulders) The key when targeting the chest with Push-Ups is the direction in which your elbows travel. As with bench presses, the elbows must move AWAY FROM THE BODY to target your chest, and be kept CLOSE TO THE BODY to target the triceps. Place each hand just outside your shoulders, slightly behind the line of your shoulders. Hands pointing straight ahead, upper body rigid as a board. 6-15 reps.

4. Tent Push-Ups (primarily upper chest) Assume the position in #3, but walk your feet forward so your body is bent at the waist, and your hips are up high in the air. Bending at the elbows, lower yourself until your nose touches the floor. Push up. Repeat. 6-8 reps.

5. Push-Ups, Triceps Position (you guessed it - triceps, and some chest) Begin with fingers facing forward in position from #3, hands slightly LESS than shoulder width apart. Lower your body to the floor keeping arms in against your body. Push up. 6-8 reps.

6. Triceps Dips With Chairs With your hands behind your back, support yourself on your palms at the edge of a chair. Your hands should be touching; your elbows should angle outward. Dipping in this position relieves a lot of stress on the elbow and shoulder joints. Lower yourself, keeping your back close to the chair. Bend your elbows back and slightly to the sides. Keep your body angled slightly forward throughout the motion. Press yourself up until your arms are straight. 6-15 reps.

7. One-Legged Squats (front thighs, glutes, hamstrings) Stand perpendicular to a wall, about arm's length away from it. Extend your arm out to the side and place your palm against the wall at just under shoulder-height. Angle the foot farthest from the wall at 45 degrees. Bend the other leg back. Keeping your body upright, lower yourself until the non-weight-bearing knee is close to (but not touching) the ground. Support yourself by leaning against the wall. Press yourself back up to starting position. Repeat 6-8 reps.

8. One-Legged Hamstring Bridges Lie on your back with one leg extended, heel on the ground. Hold the other leg up off the floor. Pushing through your heel, flex your hamstrings to lift your body. Lower and repeat for 8-10 reps. Repeat with other leg. You can control the resistance and the degree to which the glutes contribute by changing the distance you place your heel relative to your butt.

9. Lunges Begin the lunge by taking a large step forward, keeping your head up and torso erect. Lower your hips and allow your trailing knee to drop to a point just before it touches the floor - never let the knee touch the floor. To return to the start, push off with your forward leg and then step back when the knee is completely straight. Repeat with other leg, 10-15 reps each leg.

10. Stair Running Stair running isn't usually considered a resistance exercise, and in fact, it makes hefty demands on your cardiovascular system. However, it also does an incredible job of conditioning the lower body. If your knees are in good shape, try doing 10-20 one-story sprints, preferably two stairs at a time. As you get stronger, work up the number slowly, keep one hand on the stair rail to catch yourself if you lose your balance. Give yourself a bigger challenge by wearing a backpack filled with nice and heavy books.

Some have extender bars so that even more items can be added or as the hiker grows, the backpack will grow with him/her. I really don't recommend that you buy an over-sized backpack to grow into. This just makes the first few years really miserable.

My backpack has an extender bar, which I took off and never used. I am always looking to reduce my weight, not add to it.

Less expensive than internal frame backpacks.

Better for beginners and kids. Children are not going to be able to carry a lot of weight to begin with. The volume size of an 11 year olds backpack is going to be a lot less than an adult. They will grow out of it, so why pay more at the beginning?

For families that backpack, the larger volume of these backpacks will be an advantage if a child gets tired and you have to carry some of their stuff.

Now, external frames are not as stable as the internal ones. This is true for a number of reasons:
